Theme of the Year 2012 Education

Dear Supporters,

Rodha Foundation has been working since January 2011.  We have already published our achievements and events of 2011, and we have mailed them to you. In case you have not received, kindly visit our website for further information.

The key objectives of Rodha Foundation are:
- Prevention and relief of poverty in South Asia
- Advancement of education in rural areas
- Advancement  of health and provision of basic healthcare facilities

Rodha Foundation has marked the current year as the year of education with the theme ‘Education is not only the basic right of every child but also a necessity for National Development’.  This theme has been inspired after my last year’s visit to India, and the current trip to Pakistan.  I am extremely sad to see the state of education in both the countries, and how thousands of children are deprived from their right of education.

Below are some facts that I would like to share regarding the state of education in the two countries:
- Around 17 million Pakistani children who qualify as primary school students are not enrolled in schools.
- In India it is estimated that at least 60 million children aged 6 to 14 years are not in schools.

I would like to share that I have been to Karachi’s Orangi Town, the biggest slum area of the city, where I visited some schools.  Here the educational institutions lack basic facilities.  I, on the behalf of Foundation have promised to provide them books, uniforms, sports kit and other necessary items.

I hope you have found the above information appealing and that you would like to help us in our mission.  If you are interested in making a contribution towards this cause, please get in touch with us on the detail provided below:

Please note that we accept Sadkha and Zakat as well.

Your kind gesture for the welfare of the underprivileged would really be appreciated.

Yours Sincerely,

Masood Ahmed
Chairman
Rodha Foundation
